Edge cases in low-light or low-resolution scanning: what phone cameras still fail on modern ID documents?
Yeah, I feel that struggle completely. A while back I had to scan my old Ukrainian driver's license in a hurry at a hotel lobby that had terrible overhead lighting, and even holding it steady the text came out smeared on my Samsung—had to retry like five times before any app picked up the expiry date right. Stuff like uneven shadows or when the card's a bit worn just kills the accuracy on a lot of built-in cameras. Lately I've been messing around with https://ocrstudio.ai/id-scanner/ for tougher scans since it seems to handle blurry or super low-light shots way better than most phone defaults I've tried, at least in my experience it pulls clean data even from dodgy photos without forcing perfect conditions. Not saying it's magic, but it saves headaches when you're not in ideal setup. Anyone else run into similar frustrations lately?
